José António Pereira da Silva
O autor nasceu no Rio de Janeiro, filho de emigrantes portugueses, em 1957 e reside em Portugal desde 1965. É casado com Manuela Ferreira e pai de dois filhos.
Os seus principais interesses de investigação incluem a neuroimunoendocrinologia, e as dimensões psicossociais das doenças reumáticas com destaque para o impacto da (in)felicidade, mantendo atividade intensa na inovação em Educação Médica. É, também, autor de >250 capítulos de livros e artigos em revistas internacionais (ORCID 0000-0002-2782-6780).
Para além da medicina, amizade, música e jardinagem contam-se entre os seus principais interesses extraprofissionais

O autor recebendo das mãos do Presidente da EULAR (2003-2005), Prof. Josef Smollen, de Viena de Áustria, o EULAR Honorary Membership for Distinguished Services. Testemunham o ato o Prof. Joachim Kalden, de Ehrlangen, Alemanha (Presidente EULAR 2001-2003) e Neil Betteridge, então Vice-Presidente da EULAR para as ligas sociais.
